Join Vanitas at The Flapper, Birmingham on Saturday 16th August 2025 for this special event to celebrate the release of their new EP "Journey to the Sun". This is Vanitas's most ambitious event yet, a fully immersive event themed around the EP in celebration of the sun, will you join us? Special guest performances come from: Dacara, Away with the Seas and Tooth & Dagger.
Retro Games Station:
Courtesy of Royal Jester Games, this event will feature a retro games station free for all guests to use between acts, featuring games with soundtracks that have inspired Vanitas including: Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and Dark Souls.
Exclusive Merchandise:
All guests will recieve a small hand-crafted piece of merch exclusive to this event only to commemorate the night.
Best Dressed Competition:
Immerse yourself in the world of Vanitas further by dressing the part! Think fantasy and regal purple & gold vibes. The best dressed will recieve a free bundle of new Vanitas merchandise.

Described once as “Periphery meets Disney” UK progressive metal outfit Vanitas have been forging their unique blend of djent and symphonic elements since 2022; Inspired by bands such as: Periphery, Devin Townsend and Dream Theater, Vanitas are known for their soaring melodies, cinematic production and immersive, maximalist production. The Birmingham 5-piece have wasted no time establishing themselves in the UK music scene, previously supporting established prog-metal acts such as Monuments, Voyager, Galactic Empire & Destrage.
Following the success of their sophomore EP ‘Chaos Theory’ released August 2024 and garnering over 70K streams, Vanitas are emerging as one of the most exciting acts in modern metal, solidifying their cult following with a sold-out hometown show and debut UK tour including an appearance at Burn it Down festival and radio play from BBC Radio 1.
In August 2025, Vanitas are set to release their most ambitious EP yet: Journey to the Sun; a high-intensity concept exploring the themes of adventure, hope, hardship and triumph- Placing the listener as the protagonist of their own chronicle, Vanitas embark on a new journey and are inviting you to join them.

DACARA have taken the Manchester scene by storm with their blend of pop-infused metal, combining elements of 2000s rock, metalcore and J-rock with popular culture themes and references. Away With The Seas is a progressive metalcore band that seamlessly weaves intricate fantasy narratives into their emotive sound. Formed in 2016, the band hails from a diverse musical background, consisting of frontman Ollie Whitecross, guitarist Adam Daniel and drummer Harry Cook. Their music fuses heavy breakdowns and melodic riffs with evocative storytelling, creating a captivating experience that transports listeners to otherworldly realms.
Their latest EP, The Prophecy, showcases their ability to blend melodic and aggressive elements with rich, fantastical themes. Tracks like 'March' and 'Spiritum Novum' explore the aftermath of war and the struggles of heroes against evil, inviting fans to immerse themselves in an expansive narrative universe.

-TOOTH & DAGGER-
Tooth & Dagger are a 5 piece alt metal band from West Midlands, UK. They are Dante (vocals), Iain (guitar), Lucinda (bass), Chris (drums) and Dale (lead guitar). Fusing a diverse range of influences from the metal realm as well as dubstep, funk, EDM, jazz and folk, their genre-blended sound is big, brutal and beautiful. They have been described as “a hook-driven metal machine” and simply “An atomic bomb”. 2024 will see the release of three brand new tracks beginning with their heaviest single to date A.T.T.A.S on 25/03, which East London Radio calls “an absolute banger”. These will be supported by live dates across the UK, including several festivals and the legendary Bloodstock: Metal 2 The Masses, of which they reached the final in 2023.
