Spanning 250 acres, Cannon Hill Park offers a delightful escape with 80 acres of formal parkland and 120 acres dedicated to woodland and conservation. This Green Flag award-winning park, first opened to the public in 1873 after being gifted by Louisa Ryland, provides a picturesque setting for a variety of activities. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls or cycle rides along the River Rea, play a round on the 36-hole mini-golf course, or hire a pedalo boat on the lake during the summer months. Two children's play areas keep younger visitors entertained, while sports enthusiasts can make use of the tennis courts and bowling green. The park's rich history is also evident in features like the historic bandstand and memorials.
Beyond the lush landscapes and recreational facilities, Cannon Hill Park is a hub of culture and nature. It is home to the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), which presents a vibrant programme of theatre, cinema, exhibitions, and workshops. Adjacent to the park, animal lovers can explore the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park, home to fascinating creatures like red pandas. For those keen to learn more about the park's natural environment, ranger-led tours and activities are often available. With its diverse offerings, from tranquil gardens and wildflower meadows to exciting events and family attractions, Cannon Hill Park provides a perfect day out just a couple of miles from Birmingham's city centre.
