A significant portion of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery reopens in October 2024, inviting visitors to experience its refreshed spaces and new displays. The iconic Round Room and Industrial Gallery are among the key areas welcoming the public, the latter showcasing a new 'Made in Birmingham' display that celebrates the city's industrial prowess and creative spirit, featuring items like the HP Sauce factory sign. This reopening also sees the return of the beloved Edwardian Tearooms and the museum shop. Entry to the museum, which will be open Wednesday to Sunday, is free, allowing everyone to explore these reimagined galleries that aim to reflect Birmingham's complex and vibrant multicultural identity. The phased reopening will continue, with even more of the museum's extensive collections becoming accessible in the following months.

Within this grand Victorian building, visitors can marvel at the world-renowned Pre-Raphaelite art collection, with works by artists like Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Edward Burne-Jones. While a new Pre-Raphaelite display is anticipated in Autumn 2025, the popular Victorian Radicals exhibition, featuring Pre-Raphaelite art, has been extended until at least Christmas 2024. Another major draw is the Staffordshire Hoard, the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork ever discovered, offering a unique window into Anglo-Saxon craftsmanship and warfare. The museum also features the 'Wild City' area, dedicated to children and families, focusing on nature in urban environments, and the Pixel Studio, a digital gallery showcasing immersive experiences and collaborations. Beyond these highlights, the museum's vast collection spans fine art, ceramics, metalwork, jewellery, archaeology, and local history, ensuring a rich experience for all.
